Richard,
a native of Camden, Arkansas, was admitted to the
Arkansas Bar in 1978. A principal at Womack, Landis,
Phelps & McNeill, he has an extensive academic
background. Richard graduated cum laude with a
Bachelor of Arts degree from Ouachita Baptist
University in 1974, and he is a longtime member of
the university’s board of trustees. He currently
serves as that board’s chairman. Richard earned a
Master’s degree from Baylor University, attended
Washington & Lee University, and completed law
school at the University of Arkansas in 1978. He is
licensed to practice in all Arkansas state courts,
federal district courts, and the Eighth Circuit
Court of Appeals. He is a member of the Craighead
County Bar Association (past president), the
Arkansas Bar Association, DRI, and the Arkansas
Association of Defense Counsel. Richard has served
as a Special Justice of the Arkansas Supreme Court
on three occasions. He has also been recognized as a
Mid-South Super Lawyer. Richard’s current experience
and areas of practice include multi-district
litigation involving agricultural products and
machinery, products liability, trucking litigation,
medical injury, and personal injury. Since 2004 he
has included mediation and arbitration as a growing
part of his practice. He has also been
recognized as a Mid-South Super Lawyer and is a
current member of the National Academy of
Distinguished Neutrals
